Ribe – a great place for a school trip
Ribe is both Denmark and Scandinavia’s oldest town and at the same time probably also the best kept town with the beautiful cobbled streets and crooked half-timbered houses. Ribe is popular for school trips, featuring piles of experiences for children at all grade levels. Here Denmark’s history and heritage is easy to understand when you walk around the old cobbled streets and hear the stories of the Viking raids, King Valdemar and Queen Dagmar, witch burning and Maren Spliid, pirates and traitors, floods and fires. Ribe Camping is only 1.5 km from the centre of Ribe in the beautiful countryside right up to the forest, where the witch Maren Spliid was burned at the Gallow Hills.
Close to The Wadden Sea National Park and Mandø
The marshes, Mandø and Wadden Sea National Park, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site and is Ribe Camping’s closest neighbor. Here are natural experiences out of the ordinary. The unique nature experiences are available throughout the year and please contact the Wadden Sea Centre, which offers exhibitions and guided tours in the marshes, the National Park and Mandø. Get insight into the inner workings of nature, for example tide, flood, dike construction and especially the tidal importance as a pantry for Scandinavia hundreds of thousands of migratory birds.
